¿ì²¥tv welcomes Kim to our rowing family

¿ì²¥tv Head of Rowing Kim Brown is ready to meet her new “rowing family†at ¿ì²¥tv.

Kim was introduced to rowing in Year 8 when she arrived at Townsville Grammar School as a boarder from Richmond. Rowing from Year 8 to Year 12, Kimberley was her school’s rowing captain in Year 12, coxswained the First Eight, and continued both rowing and coxing.

After graduating from Townsville Grammar, Kim started coaching at The Cathedral School in Townsville where she was appointed Head Coach in her final year.

“Rowing usually has good team spirit,’’ Kim said.

“Anywhere I go it has ended up as my family. It was my family when I started boarding at Grammar and Cathedral became my family when I started coaching there.â€

Arriving into her new “family†at ¿ì²¥tv this term, Kim both wants the rowers to be happy in the programme and she’s also more than happy to claim medals at the top end of the sport.

“I think I love coaching more than rowing,†said Kim, who has completed a Bachelor of Sports and Exercise Science and is now studying a Masters of Teaching.

“I love working with the kids and I like watching them improve.â€

Kim’s initial plans for ¿ì²¥tv are getting to know the students, meeting everyone in the club and then building up the programme.

“I just want to try and build on the squad’s numbers and build everyone up to a state level or higher.’’

Kim would also love to see more students trying the sport.

“Just give it a shot and have some fun. If you like it, you like it.â€
